Frequently asked questions.
What courses are on offer?
Currently we are offering a 'non accredited' adapted Horticulture Certificate II Course known as 'The Horticulture Course', through DNA Training in Melbourne Australia. We will also soon be broadening course criteria to include; Carpentry, Electrical, Plumbing and Hospitality (please subscribe to our newsletter for further updates).
What is the duration of each course?
This will vary depending on the course. The Horticulture Course was based on the delivery for Vi Thùy Vocational and Continuing Education Centre as follows: 12 months classroom-based theory study, including 4 hours Horticulture per week during the teaching term and 4 hours English study per week during the teaching term; plus 5 days of practical assessment in Vietnam mid-course and another 5 days of practical assessment at the end of the year when the theory has been completed. The students will be assessed for their horticulture skills during and at the conclusion of the theory and will be awarded a Certificate of Participation in Horticulture if they are deemed competent.
What does the course cost for the student?
The course is expected to cost around $11,000 AUD per student. VTSEA will be lobbying governments and the private sector to provide funds that cover the greater cost of delivering this course leaving students to pay up to $1000 AUD to undertake this course. It is expected that the local Hau Giang government will provide loan facilities to students to afford their costs.
What qualification is obtained at course completion?
Students will gain a Certificate of Participation in Horticulture. This training course is adapted from the Australian Horticulture Certificate II by DNA Training, and it is hoped that it will gain full Australian Certificate II currency in the future.
